Tim Zorr - Band

I’m Tim Zorr, and I am the 5-12 Band Director here at Bridgewater-Emery. I graduated from the University of South Dakota in 2002 with a Bachelor of Music Degree. (Yes – that’s a real degree not just something musicians made up to seem more impressive. I have the student loans to prove it!). After graduating, I taught band for sixteen years at a small school in northwest Iowa, before coming home to South Dakota.
I am blessed to be married to Valerie – a remarkable woman who happened to grow up south of Mitchell with is what brings us to the area. (She can cook to – how lucky can a guy get!) Along with our three children Mara, Ginny and Jack we are grateful for the invitation to join BE and the wonderful supporting communities of Bridgewater and Emery!
I am often asked if I can play all of the instruments I teach. The answer is yes, I play all of the primary band instruments. However, I specialize in performing on brass instruments, having played trumpet, horn, trombone, baritone and tuba with multiple ensembles in and around northwest Iowa. Don’t ask me to play bassoon though. Seriously. Cattle in the area will stampede – though I’m not sure if they will run to me or away, and I don’t want to find out.
When not making a wonderful noise with the members of the BE bands, I enjoy reading, gaming, biking, camping, carpentry and hanging out with my friends and family.
