Dena Smith - Behavioral Specialist

Hello, my name is Dena Smith, I am currently the Systems of Care Coordinator (SOC) with Project Aware. Project AWARE is Advancing Wellness and Resiliency in Education in the Bridgewater Emery School District. My role is to assist families and their students with any basic, emotional, and health needs as well as social, housing and community supports.  I am an employee of Southeastern Behavioral Health and have been in the Education/Mental Health fields since 2006.

I am from Buffalo, South Dakota and appreciate rural South Dakota as my father was a rancher in Harding County. I began college at Black Hills State University and finished my Bachelor of Arts in Counseling Psychology degree at the University of Sioux Falls. I then earned my Master of Science in Counseling Psychology at Capella University in Minneapolis, MN. Currently, I am enrolled in the Sioux Falls Seminary as education is a lifelong process for me. I have one son who is 24 years old and lives in Sioux Falls. I enjoy reading and spending time with my son and two dogs Lola Belle and Chloe.

I have a passion to work with children as they are our future! Please know that you are welcome to call, text, or email me with any questions or concerns.
