Gary Thury - Fifth Grade

Hi! My name is Kari Saarie, and I am excited to be working as a paraprofessional this year. I have been working in Bridgewater for 35 years and have had the opportunity to work with many amazing students at many grade levels.
Originally, I am from New Town, North Dakota and graduated from Minot State University. I began my teaching career at a small school in Flaxton, North Dakota where I taught the first through third-grade classes. That school closed after my first year, and that’s when I moved to South Dakota. My first several years teaching in Bridgewater were at the third-grade level. After that, I taught reading and language arts to the third, fourth, and fifth grades. A couple of years later, a first-grade position opened, and I decided to take on that opportunity. Following that, I spent four years teaching fifth grade. After retiring from teaching, I made the decision to return as a paraprofessional and am excited to continue working with our great staff and students.
My husband, Brian, and I have two kids, Dustin (26) and Nicole (14). We enjoy camping, boating, and being outdoors.
