Shawn Giesler - Kindergarten

I grew up and went to High School in Salem, SD. Most of my family still lives in the Salem area. I received my elementary education degree from Dakota State College. Over the past forty years, I have taught elementary students in Canova, Emery, and Bridgewater. I am currently teaching kindergarten at Bridgewater-Emery.
My husband Jim and I have four children. Megan and Mike live in South Sioux City and have seven children. Jessica and Mike live in Sioux Falls and have one son. Amy lives in Tyndall and teaches HS English. Matthew is a deputy sheriff for Perkins County and resides in Lemmon. Spending time with our eight grandchildren is our favorite thing to do. One thing many people don’t know about me is that I work out at 5:15 AM five days a week.
Some of my favorites include:
-
Subject to teach – reading
-
Candy – dark chocolate
-
Food – anything containing spinach and chicken
-
Place – at the lake with our grandkids
-
Quote – “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more things you know the more places you’ll go.” Excerpt from I Can Read with my Eyes Shut by Dr. Seuss
