Stephanie Marquardt - First Grade

Hello! My name is Mrs. Stephanie Marquardt. I graduated from Mount Marty College with a degree in Elementary and Special Education, and I have been teaching both elementary and special education since 2005. I am very excited to be teaching 1st grade at Bridgewater-Emery School.

As an Emery native, it is very gratifying to be teaching and raising my children where I grew up. My husband, Jim, our sons, Shay, Peyton, and Tyson and I live four miles south of Alexandria. Jim works at Electric Construction as an electrician in Sioux Falls, Shay is a second grader at B-E School, and Peyton and Tyson are at daycare. I also have two stepchildren, Jordan and Hannah. Jordan is a sophomore at DWU and is majoring in business. Hannah is a senior at Hanson High School and is active in volleyball and basketball. As a family, we love to fish, hunt, camp at the river, attend the kids’ extra-curricular activities, and go for evening rides on our Ranger.

Every year I look forward to getting to know the students inside and outside of my classroom. My job brings so much joy to my life, and I love sharing my excitement for education with the students and staff I work with.

Here are a few of my favorite things:

  • Favorite Meal: Steak and potatoes

  • Favorite Song: “God Gave Me You” Blake Shelton

  • Favorite TV Show: Criminal Minds

  • Favorite Quote: “Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.” ― Dr. Seuss
